Wow, I remember this so well! We evacuated to an A-Frame church in the middle of the night, bringing our cat with us. While the cat stayed in the car, we huddled in the sanctuary where we could see open sky and sheets of rain as the wind separated the A-Frame at its peak. Afraid that the stained glass front would blow in on us, they moved us to the ladies room in the interior of a low lying Sunday School building. During the "Eye" of the storm my Dad and I took a ride around town - this scene of the pier is one that's burned into my memory... I was 7 years old.
Oh, I forgot; while we were waiting out the storm on the floor of the ladies room, my sisters and I joked about what we'd tell our grandchildren of our "Great Big Bathroom Adventure" or "The Day We Spent in the Bathroom while Donna Raged Outside!"
